A young student in Chennai has just begun his first year in Marine Engineering, carrying with him big dreams of building a stable future for his family.
His father worked as a merchandiser in a private company and was the sole earning member of the family. Recently, he underwent a major open-heart surgery and was medically advised to take complete rest for at least six months. Even after the recovery period, he has been unable to return to his previous job due to its physically demanding nature.
The family lives in a rented house, paying ₹8,000 per month. The student’s mother is not employed. While the father managed to arrange ₹1,00,000 at the time of college admission, his sudden health crisis has left the family financially strained. An amount of ₹80,000 towards the first-year tuition fees is still pending.
Until his father was working, the family managed their expenses with dignity. Today, with no stable income and mounting medical and living expenses, they are struggling to keep their son’s education uninterrupted.
